A.R.T.S. (Arts Revealing The Son) Foundation
is a non-profit Christian performing arts outreach ministry to the church and community, with emphasis on the family. It provides a biblically based atmosphere for training in the arts. The arts are divine gifts meant to impact the world for the glory of God. Students are taught that the body has many parts, no one less important than the other. The parts are intended to serve one another, not to bring honor to themselves. Jealousy and competition have no place in ministry. A.R.T.S. Foundation encourages artistic expression and requires discipline and commitment.
A.R.T.S. Fine Arts School has been in existence for over 35 years under the direction of Katha Bardel. Katha has trained thousands of dancers and many are continuing in her footsteps. Katha is an accomplished dancer and choreographer who obtained her professional training and experience from the New York City Ballet Company. She and her students have performed at the Children's International Dance Festival in China; premiered an original work of Dave Brubeck's La Posada in Mexico City at the Palace of Fine Arts; choreographed and danced in Christmas specials in Branson Missouri at the Glenn Campbell Theater; and Sight n Sound Theater in Lancaster Pennsylvania. She toured the U.S. dancing with concert pianist Dino Kartsonakis. Katha and her twin daughters performed on a nation wide TV musical series that aired for 3 years. Katha has been a soloist with Ballet Oklahoma and Lyric Theater. She has also served as Dance Director for productions at MetroChurch, CityChurch, Cathedral of Praise and Crossing Community Church. Katha serves on the board of the Oklahoma Alliance for Liturgy & the Arts.
A.R.T.S. Foundation's teaching staff includes Katha Bardel and twenty qualified instructors in Drama, Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Tumbling, Ballroom, Hip Hop and other related dance subjects. Studio training begins with 3-yr-olds and continues through adults. A.R.T.S. Foundation has a base of over 250 participants that perform annual productions using music, dance and drama that appeal to people of all ages. The A.R.T.S. Foundation families and volunteers are the backbone of the A.R.T.S. Foundation organization as they combine their creativity, talents, time and resources to accomplish A.R.T.S. Foundation goals for excellence.
A.R.T.S. Foundation's dream is to have a free-standing theater/training center that could be used year round for annual seasonal presentations as well as incorporating other community arts groups for special production events. This will be the fourteenth year to present "The Prince", a Christian rendition of Tchaikovsky's musical score, "The Nutcracker". A.R.T.S. Foundation's version is performed with dance, drama and scripture narration set to the music score.
Besides expanding A.R.T.S. Foundation's facility, our needs include vehicles for traveling, routine supplies and updating of sets, costumes, props and tech equipment. A.R.T.S. Foundation relies on God's financial gifts through His sources to accomplish all He gives A.R.T.S. Foundation to do.
